☀️ Chasing the “Good Life”
Most of us are chasing something.
A better future. A more meaningful life. A version of ourselves we know we’re capable of becoming.
We want to live “the good life”—to walk in our calling, to love well, to leave a legacy.
And honestly, it’s a noble pursuit.
But if you’re like me, the idea of sustaining some “better version” of myself for decades can feel… overwhelming. Read, When Life Feels Like Lucy’s Conveyor Belt.
Let’s do some quick math:
I’m 55 and say by God’s grace, I live to 85? That’s about 11,000 days.
So try being my best self for 11,000 straight days? Whew!
✅ The Power of One
Here’s the shift that helps me breathe easier:
I don’t need to be my best for 11,000 days (what’s your #?).
I just need to be my best for today.
Then do it again… 11,000 times.
That’s it.
Don’t design a “11K plan.”
Design a one day plan.
Then follow it—day in, day out.
☕ What That Looks Like for Me
For me, it starts with my morning routine.
It anchors me. It reminds me who I am and what matters.
And I’m convinced—it adds value to my life and magnifies the potential impact I can have on others.
If I can honor God, love my family, and walk with integrity today—then I’ve done something worthwhile.
And tomorrow?
Well, I’ll just strive to do it again.
📖 What the Bible Says
Jesus said it simply:
“Give us this day our daily bread.” —Matthew 6:11
Not this week. Not this decade. Today.
And Lamentations 3:23 promises:
“His mercies are new every morning.”
God never asked us to live life on autopilot.
He gives us grace for one day at a time—and that’s all He asks us to show up for.
✨ Reflection Questions
- Are you overwhelmed by trying to “hold it all together” for the long haul?
- What would it look like to simply give God your best today?
- What’s one thing you can do daily that adds value to your life and honors your calling?
- What’s one daily habit or rhythm you want to start—or restart—this week?
🙏 Final Thought
You don’t need a flawless X#-day track record.
You just need the courage to show up today.
Then tomorrow, show up again.
And again…
Help me, Lord, to live one day at a time—honoring You and making the best of it.
