Created for More: Step Into Your God-Given Potential

“Your potential is endless. Go do what you were created to do.”

One morning, I was having coffee with a ministry leader who looked exhausted. Not just physically tired—soul tired. “Roy,” he said, “I feel like I’m stuck in neutral. I know God has more for me, but I can’t seem to find the ignition key.”

I’ve been there. Maybe you have too.

There’s this whisper that follows us around. It’s quiet but persistent: “There’s more.” Not more stuff or recognition, but more of who we were made to be. The problem is, life has a way of drowning out that whisper with self-doubt, comparison, and the endless noise of busyness.

But what if that restlessness isn’t a problem to solve but a calling to answer?

His Workmanship, Not Your Hustle

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10

I love that word “workmanship”—in Greek, it’s poiēma, where we get our word “poem.” You’re not a mass-produced product; you’re God’s handwritten poem. He crafted you with intention, not accident.

Here’s what changed everything for my coffee companion (and for me): realizing that the “good works” God prepared aren’t about proving our worth—they’re about expressing His design. We don’t manufacture meaning; we discover it through faithful obedience.

That sacred burden you can’t shake? That dream that keeps resurfacing during your quiet time? That stirring to take the next step in your calling? Friend, that could be the very work God prepared specifically for you to walk in.

Notice the verb: walk. Not sprint, not strive, not stress yourself into the ground. Walk. One faithful step at a time, in rhythm with Him.

Four Steps Forward (The VONA Approach)

Vision: Get clear on what God is stirring in your heart. Spend time in His Word and prayer—not just asking for answers, but seeking alignment with His heart.

Obstacles: Name what’s holding you back. Is it fear? Comparison? Lack of resources? Bring those honestly to God. He’s not surprised by them.

Now: What’s the next faithful step you can take today? Write the email. Make the call. Say yes to that volunteer opportunity. Start small, but start.

Actions: Create a simple plan. Break that big calling into bite-sized pieces of obedience. Remember, God’s not asking for perfection—just participation.

He’s Still Writing Your Story

Let me tell you what I told my friend over that second cup of coffee: God wastes nothing in your story. Not the waiting seasons. Not the wounds. Not even the times you felt lost or forgotten. He’s been preparing you through all of it.

Your potential isn’t endless because you’re amazing (though you are loved beyond measure). It’s endless because you’re connected to the limitless God who created you on purpose, for a purpose.

So here’s my challenge: Stop standing on the edge of your calling like you need permission to walk in it. You were created with divine intention. The Author of creation didn’t finish His work when He formed you—He’s still writing, still leading, still preparing good works for you to walk in.

It’s time to go do exactly what you were created to do.

Reflection Question: What’s one faithful step God is inviting you to take this week? Don’t overthink it—just take it.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that I’m Your workmanship, created for good works You’ve already prepared. Help me trust Your timing, take the next faithful step, and remember that my potential is endless because You are limitless. Amen.
